This product has been replaced with Driver Navigator, their more relevant product.

DriverEasy is driver update software that's nothing more than a scanning engine wrapped within a seemingly useful application. In fact, the only other buttons in DriverEasy besides "Scan Now" are About, Help, Setting and Register. It's interesting to note that it's "Setting," but not "Settings." When you click on the button, you will notice that there's more than one setting, which would make it "Settings." It’s the little things that are most indicative of a manufacturer's lack of dedication and attention to detail. If a program wants to become one of the best in its category, it needs to have an interface that at least makes some sense. Customers might try to use this program and get frustrated before they're actually able to accomplish what they wanted to accomplish.

The feature set for DriverEasy is simple. It's nothing more than the scanning engine, internet settings and the ability to create a system restore point before installing drivers. One would think that a large feature set wouldn't be required for driver update software, but something more was expected here. A new application needs to be loaded with useful features to give it value and longevity. It doesn't matter what your application does, users are going to relegate it to the system utility scrapheap, if it does nothing more than its core function. In the case of DriverEasy, it doesn't even do that well.

Since DriverEasy only has three features, figuring out how to use it shouldn't take any longer than a few minutes. To get the driver update process started, all you have to do is click on "Scan Now." The program does the rest of the work for you. Luckily, the scan time is lightning fast, and the application gives you a measurement for how long the application took to scan your computer. Our test scan took 10.1 seconds to complete and it seemed like it was pretty thorough.

When we performed a test scan using DriverEasy, it told us we had 19 drivers it thought were outdated. We tried to test these results, but gave up halfway through because most of the results from the scan appeared to be false positives. With that, we gave up trying to figure out why.

When you click the "Help" button, it will take you directly to the website for the product, which defeats the purpose of having a "Help" button in the application in the first place. And if your system has degraded to the point of not being able to connect to the internet, you’re out of luck. You are able to contact the manufacturer through a contact form, but it's not going to do you any good. We sent out a sample message to test response times and we still haven't received a response, more than a week later.

Summary:

DriverEasy is driver update software that would be a lot better if there was more meat added to its bones. We could find little use for driver update software that was nothing more than a scanner function trying to masquerade as a standalone application.
